The 2015 BMW 2 Series continues to provide luxury and stellar performance as it always has. Available as a coupe, and convertible, the 2 Series offers an abundance of luxurious features on top of a fuel-efficient engine and a comfortable interior. There are two trim levels to choose from, and they can be supplemented with several packages and options to make your ride sportier, safer and more high-tech. Features
New Features for 2015
Aside from the convertible being new for the 2 Series, there aren't too many changes for 2015. All-wheel-drive (xDrive) is now available for all models, except for the M235i convertible. The 228i is now eligible for a Track Handling Package.
Trims
The 2015 BMW 2 Series is available in the 228i and M235i. Both seat four, and can be purchased in the coupe or convertible style. The only difference in equipment is the convertible has a power-fabric roof and automatic pop-up roll hoops.
Powertrains
A 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is standard on the 228i, and it produces 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque. The M235i is a bit more powerful with a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine that makes 320 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. All but the convertible M235i are eligible for all-wheel-drive (xDrive), but come standard with rear-wheel-drive. RWD models get an option for a 6-speed manual transmission at no extra cost, otherwise both trims come with a six-speed automatic. EPA estimate for the RWD 228i automatic is 28 miles per gallon combined city and highway driving, while AWD gets 27. The RWD M235i automatic earns 25 mpg combined and 24 for AWD.
Interior Features
Both trims come standard with luxurious features that improve your driving experience. Some of these in the 228i are leatherette upholstery, cruise control, leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, 8-way adjustable front seats, Bluetooth connectivity, 6.5-inch touchscreen display with BMW's iDrive interface, 10-speaker sound system, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The M235i adds memory functions for the driver, an M Sport steering wheel and ambient lighting.
Packages and Options
Options for the 228i include xenon headlights, while both are eligible for a self-parking system, 12-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, keyless entry and ignition and more. Packages include Cold Weather (exterior add-ons), Technology (more high-tech) , Driver Assistance (more safety), Premium (leather upholstery and luxury features) and Track Handling (sportier handling).
Safety Features
The 2015 BMW 2 Series scored high in crash tests and whiplash protection tests performed by IIHS. Optional safety features are available for driver assistance. Both trims come equipped with stability and traction control, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, airbags throughout the cabin and hill start assist for the manuals.
Pricing
The RWD coupe has an MSRP of $32,100, while AWD starts at $33,000. The M235i RWD has an MSRP of $43,100, while the xDrive is priced at $44,900. BMW offers $0 maintenance for 4 years or 50,000 miles and a 4 year 50,000 mile warranty.
