The BMW i8 is no putt-around; it is a reputable sports car that can blow the doors off many gasoline-powered guzzlers. BMW created the 2015 BMW i8 with a BMW TwinPower Turbo 3-cylinder, high-precision direct injection inline-3 that burns up 228 hp. BMW coupled the engine with an eDrive 129-hp electric motor. The total horsepower is a whopping 357 hp. The top track speed is 155 mph, according to Car and Driver magazine, and 0 to 60 acceleration is achieved in just under 4 seconds. BMW equipped the luxury electric car with an all-wheel drive system, brake-energy recirculation, an 11.1-gallon steel fuel tank, auto start-stop function, driving dynamics controls, a 2-speed automatic transmission for the electric motor, and a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
