Performance and Agility
BMW is the king of performance and driving pleasure. The more common engine option is the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4, which produces 240 hp at 5,000-6,000 RPM and 260 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,250-4,800 RPM. If you select the rear-wheel drive option, the fuel economy rating is 23/34 mpg. The all-wheel drive selection averages an estimated 22/32 mpg. Boosting the power to 300 hp at 5,800-6,000 RPM is the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6. The estimated fuel economy rating is 18/27 mpg. The inline-6 mode accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds, and the top track speed is 128 mph.
Interior Design
BMW, the masters of artistry, designed the spunky SUV to accommodate five passengers, providing 41.3 inches of headroom in the front and 39.7 inches of headroom in the rear. Customizing the front seats for a comfortable ride is possible with 8-way adjustment settings and adjustable headrests. Memory settings permit settings for two drivers. Twenty-five cubic feet of cargo space is available when all the seats are in place. The rear bench is collapsible to accommodate more cargo space. Standard interior finishings in the BMW X1 include leatherette seating, cupholders, and remote power locks and doors. The SUV is infused with woodgrain trim, alloy and wood trim on the doors and dash, and a leather steering wheel.

BMW loaded the sleek crossover with a wealth of driving features and comforts. When the driver takes command, he/she benefits from cruise control speed-proportional steering, a tit/telescoping wheel, audio and cruise controls on the steering wheel, an 8-speed automatic with ECO PRO, auto start-stop, and a premium audio system. The 8-speaker stereo system includes a diversity antenna, auxiliary audio input, USB port, radio data system, satellite, AMF/FM radio, and Bluetooth® connectivity. BMW equipped the X1 SUV with Telematics, and BMW Ultimate Service®.
First-Class Safety
BMW equipped the X1 with an impressive collection of state-of-the-art safety devices and technologies. Standard features include Head Protection System, side-impact airbags, supplemental airbags, BMW Advanced Safety System™, central locking system, anti-theft system, BMW Assist eCall™, crash sensors and coded driveway protection. The BMW earned ‘good’ ratings in four crashworthiness tests conducted by the IIHS.
